How can we address one of today’s biggest pollution problems?
Sludge: every wastewater treatment plant produces it.
There is a lot of it around – a third of the total waste volume going to a landfill site is sludge: about half a million tonnes per year just for the lower North Island of New Zealand - and the problem just keeps on getting bigger.
Wetox was formed to address the opportunity arising from the need to dispose of sludge more efficiently, cost effectively and environmentally friendly using technology developed at Victoria University of Wellington.
